Thanks to this wench Pharyngitis AKA evil Strep-mom. AKA Meryl Strep. AKA Strepford wives, I will not be performing at the Central Saloon tonight.
Yesterday my dearest Mira drove me all the way to the urgent care clinic in Montlake Terrace where they tickled my globular, puss-filled tonsils with a big ol q-tip. The doctor was beside herself with joy that the rapid test result came back positive, since she wouldn't have to deal with the uncertainty of overprescribing antibiotics for a viral infection. I told her it was all ok, I'm the Streppiest bitch in town.
So yeah, main takeaway from this newsletter: I won't be there. But please go anyway! The band iffin is going to play instead of RP, so gird your 80s DIY cyber-punk (sax included) loins.
I am feeling much better already having started the antibiotics last night. They are doing their thing.
In the spirit of Dave Letterman - specifically this one night in the early aughts when, having basically cut off his finger while slicing onions, he had it stitched back on live on the show as the recipe for the thing he was making scrolled over the screen -an unedited list of movies I've watched while at home with the strep-mom.

What Happened Was...
count 'em THREE Bill Pullman flicks. The man has range. But isn't he always kind of a crumb? It's that tortured wince he can hold his face in when he's incredulous or playing dumb or being a dick. I could punch it. But for real, if you want a good time with strokes of unexpected comic genius AND torture by floorlamp, watch Amateur (dir. Hal Hartley). I can't even begin to talk about Isabelle Huppert's character / performance. Also the soundtrack was lit. Can't say the same for Lost Highway.... (Marilyn Manson?? Yeuch. WHy)
OH YA we were on the cool punk radio again!
Radio Canut (FM Radio in Lyon, France!)
Dynamite Hemorrhage # 203 (DH double-dips on "Trite"!)
Come to the next show, 5/19 at the Blue Moon Tavern!
